The power of LOVE has been written about for hundreds of years. Partner Yoga provides us with tools to experience love in a safe and playful environment. Through this workshop we open doors to greater physical, mental and spiritual wellness in ourselves and our intimate relationships.

Union, Trust, Surrender and Balance

The meaning of the word ‘Yoga’ is union, to join. Through the practice of Partner Yoga we can learn about the importance of presence in a relationship; to be there for another while also being present for ourselves. The concepts of giving/receiving, self/other are explored as a path to experience the essence of Yoga – union.

Trust and love are closely related. We are unable to love truly and deeply without trust being present. When we distrust, fear and self defence come into our relationships. Through partner Yoga we can explore in a safe environment the concept of ‘trust’. When our partner supports us in a challenging pose we experience directly how much we are able to trust and after experiencing their support and presence, fear can dissolve to replace itself for compassion and love.

Surrender – letting go of control and resistance. It can be a difficult challenge to face! Sometimes in life we feel like we have to keep everything under control – however this is pretty much an illusion. Ever heard that saying ‘life is what happens to you when you’re busy making plans’? The only thing we have control over is how we view our life and the events that happen. So how can we cultivate a feeling of surrender that leads to a sense of peace in our lives and relationships? Surrender and trust go hand in hand. Trust in the guidance and support of your partner, even in challenging poses. Look at where you are resisting and holding on. With surrender we start to experience a flow, with resistance we experience challenges in the postures. With partner Yoga we support each other to deeply relax and surrender.

Balance is the key to accept all experiences of life as necessary and valuable – darkness with the light, hard and the soft, challenges and the easy flow. In partner Yoga we must be deeply connected to our own center while remaining present for another – it is the essence of balance –  balancing outgoing energy with a deep connection to ourselves. The balance of giving and receiving.

These concept are explored through a series of poses, with different levels of difficulty in order to be accessible for all levels of experience with Yoga and partner Yoga. No prior knowledge of Yoga is required to join these workshops. Just bring an intimate partner, your open mind and comfortable clothes.

’My partner and me attended Lover’s yoga and massage workshop today and I must say that it was really divine experience. I loved it so much. I connected with my partner a lot and it was very well spent Saturday morning and afternoon. The instructors were very warm and helpful. Highly recommended.’ – Giedre
